SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Sadie and the guys have been kidnapped by the fae queen after Ascher betrayed them. But Ascher didn’t know the queen’s plans for them and thought he was returning them to the beast realm where they were (unknowingly) kidnapped from.

But the fae queen is cruel, and insists that they participate in the month long fae games before they are allowed to leave.

As they navigate the games, they are adjusting to each other, Ascher is bound and determined to win Sadie’s forgiveness, and an unusual omega guard insists on shadowing them everywhere.

REVIEW:

I enjoyed this! I know it has some very mixed reviews, but I personally found it really fun.

I’m kind of a sucker for gladiator style games in storylines. Especially when characters are forced to work together to get through them. I thought this plot line added some real interest and adventure.

I also loved Sadie’s character in this one. As she overcomes her insecurities about her scars, she is gaining confidence with the guys. I also loved her sarcasm, wit, and quirkiness. She’s a lot of fun.

The guys are still growing on me:
- I still love Jax (what’s not to love?).
- I’m pissed at Ascher, but he makes great groveling strides and I’ve begun to forgive him.
- Xerxes is a new addition to the harem and I like him even if he’s a bit cold. I liked the background we got on him to understand him better.
- Now Cobra…pissed me off. He is way too possessive. Even towards the guys in the harem. I don’t always mind possessive (towards those outside the harem), but I was surprised he didn’t even seem willing to share Sadie with Jax of all people! I really hope his attitude towards sharing shifts in the coming book.

The biggest issues I had was a ton of jealousy in the harem. Not a fan of this dynamic.

I also was really bummed that there was no sex! Sadie is still firmly a virgin! And considering the next book is the last book for Sadie and her crew, this is disappointing. I get sexual tension, but this is just plain torture. Not loving this!

Overall though I really like this fascinating fantasy world of connected realms. I love the atmosphere and how in each book they are in a different realm. Lots of fun and adventure! I’m looking forward to the next book, but hoping for a lot more steam in that one!
