Good King. Could have been a hundred pages shorter, but I liked the pacing of the story: it spends so long luxuriating in world building, then suddenly accelerates to breakneck pace. I think this story has aged well; it seems to get directly at the heart of the greedy American individualism and tribalism that continues to tear communities apart- in a way, these tired hostilities bringing a community to an absolute boiling point of war feels prescient, in reality, it’s just King seeing who we’ve always been.
