this definitely feels like the strongest of kaur's three collections. as with her previous work, there's a big focus on self love/care, mental health, and trauma, as well as on immigration, feminism and intersectionality. i also felt like she branched out a little more in this one which was nice. i particularly liked some of the longer poems (of which there were... not many) and found some bits that really resonated throughout.
still, a lot of the poems just read like one or two line value statements or the kind of self love slogans you can find on mass produced t-shirts. not bad, just repetitive and simplistic. i was a fan of this style when i first read milk and honey at eighteen, but it's just not to my taste anymore.
