An interesting change of pace for the Mercyverse!
For the 2nd time, poor Mercy starts the story with a car crash. But this time it ends in a kidnapping and we’re quickly making a transatlantic journey to Prague as Mercy is thrust into the political intrigue of the European vampires & werewolves.
There was not as much Stefan as I’d have liked, especially with a plot as heavily vampire-centric as this one. I enjoyed the alternating Mercy/Adam POVs - it was a nice break from the typical pacing & more akin to the Alpha & Omega series. Even though the storyline contained a suspenseful tilt, I found it much slower-paced than previous Mercy novels, which may or may not be everyone’s cup of tea. There’s also a little bit of a twist at the end which was quite surprising, and had me skimming back to see if I could pick up any possible hints!
