Some good fun moments in here. Some of the spice was meh. Part one was my preferred part of the plot.

Look, the heroine is 18 and the hero is 30. He’s having sex with a teenager. And I’m squicked out by it.
Graphic: Adult/minor relationship
Moderate: Death of parent

While the writing and lovers' tension certainly meets the author's usual standards, the man in this story, Logan, was unforgivably awful to Madeline after her "plot" was uncovered. The threats he made and the way he treated her were abusive regardless of his fear of vulnerability or how badly he was treated as a child. I finished the story hoping that his disgusting behavior would stop at every page, and it just kept going and going... Some of the sex between them (before and after Logan knew about her "plot") continued against Madeline's wishes, as well, which is not a style of romance I'm attracted to. When she finally told him off for good (but didn't have to follow through because of course at that moment he finally decided to correct his heinous treatment of her), I was overjoyed, but it shouldn't have taken that long. And what kind of lady friend would keep telling Madeline to "just be patient" with him as he continued to shower her with coldness? Ugh.
Not one of Kleypas' better stories.
