Tracking depictions of monstrous children in film since the 1950s, this collection is especially interesting for the essays grappling with how childlessness has been culturally coded with a specific brand of monstrosity. This is then compared against ‘the overbearing mother’ archetype and I found a lot of use in how the essays build off of one another. This collection does contain a lot of academic jargon but the application of the ideas to popular movies helps to clarify the arguments being made. Overall, a strong collection worth a look.
