Loved this one!! I'm a huge fan of the BBC graphic novels and this is probably one of my new favorites. I'm always excited to see Deaf culture represented in media. I loved the explanation of Deaf culture to Jessi, the inclusion of signs in conversation, and Jessi showing others that it isn't hard at all to include people who seem different from us.

There wasn't a whole ton of inclusion of the other girls in this one, and not quite as much focus on babysitting, but it truly didn't bother me. I think the message they intended to get across was relayed in the perfect way and it was made into a truly enjoyable graphic novel.

I enjoyed this immensely. I enjoy all the books in this graphic series version of BSC. Sign language is a language I wish was taught more in schools.

Growing up, one of my favorite things was dance and ballet. I also wanted to learn sign language so badly but unfortunately never did. I love this book because it has two things that I loved as a child as major focuses of the book.

Jessi is our main character. She is learning sign language because she’s babysitting a new boy who is deaf. His sister gets frustrated because other children are finding it difficult to become friends with her brother, so Jessi finds ways to bridge gaps and make new friends for herself and for her new companions.

Such a fun graphic novel!
