Slow burn and silent yearning is not for me… especially when the flame is almost non existent and the characters barley talk or have any cute moments and then the fire suddenly flares up at the very end of the book. I mean, I’m a fan of insta love but this romance didn’t have enough substance for me. I hoped for like… kissing or getting tangled in the silks together or something like that Rewrite the Stars scene from The Greatest Showman. I did not get that.
The story wasn’t terrible… it was just mediocre. The villain is another corrupt misogynistic religious white man. It’s fine, like I said about Of Fire and Stars, not every book has to have the most unique story or magic system or anything, but unlike Of Fire and Stars, the romance didn’t stand out.
The book did touch on lesbophobia that wlw face and how men think they can/should be able to change them.
