Well. This book effed me up. Read it if you like staying up until 2:30 a.m. on a weeknight when your alarm is set for 5:30 a.m. Especially read it if you enjoy the emotional equivalent of being tied to and dragged behind a car for 20 miles. ENJOY!

P.S. Do not read if you don't want to read about rape and torture and a lot of other disgusting things. (I should probably start paying closer attention to a book's synopsis?)

A good, twisty thriller. It starts to chug towards the end but a good page turner that is hard hitting and shocked me at points.

So so so messed up, and yet I couldn’t put it down. Some parts were predictable but it’s written really well. Too graphic and unsettling in parts for me to give it four stars.

First of all: this really is as dark and graphic as everyone keep saying it is. I'm not squeamish but this book made me uncomfortable.

This is also one of those books where it is very hard to tell you what it's about without any spoilers, because it is so full of twists and turns and nothing is what it seems to be. But the gist is that two estranged sisters come together hoping to finally get to the bottom of what happened to their sister who disappeared twenty years ago. And they uncover a lot of dark shit.

The book is well written and well paced. It keeps you glued to the page and you have no trouble rooting for the main characters. It's not my personal favourite because the suspense is banking on me to be scared and disgusted and appalled, and I am. So while it works, it doesn't make for the most enjoyable reading experience. But I do understand the hype the book is getting.
