I have continued for as long as I could, but I can’t anymore. It isn’t a bad thriller but it definitely isn’t the best one that I’ve read. I got annoyed at the decisions the MC is making, and also one of the things that I don’t enjoy in my books is disclosing the “villain twist” too soon. And this book did exactly that. I didn’t sign up for a survivor story, I signed up for a thriller! So I am not going to finish this one, because my guess is they all live happily ever after (except for the bad one).

THIS BOOK. THIS FUCKING BOOK.

reading this was like experiencing a slow burn unfurl between me and the story, its characters. in slow stages too, moving from “uhh this is getting 3 stars for now” to “oop i can bump this to 4 stars” to “well bitch went off alright here’s 5 stars”

UNTIL THE VERY END. when i thought it was finally over and i was reading some sort of bittersweet ending, literally the last 2 paragraphs jumped out on me, took me by surprise and went MERRY FUCKING CHRISTMAS (cause, the story’s set in christmas, d’you get it, d’you-)

Okay I know the cover is ugly but...
I took awhile finishing this book because it was so dense, from the start it was nonstop suspense and action. I thought the (many) twists worked well. It was more gritty and even gory than I thought it would be but it wasn’t gratuitous. There were many tragic plot points and characters, but there was always a protagonist that was easy to root for. There were a couple plot points that bothered me… one was a borderline-cheesy aspect of a character’s arc, and the other was a minor detail at the end that I don’t think was super realistic. However I recognize that these points were necessary to the story. I know I’m being vague but trying not to spoil because you need to go in blind reading this book (like I did). You won’t be disappointed!

A page turning thriller. A few of the plot twists stretched reality but a fast paced and scary story.

Amazing thriller..kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. A must 5 for me as it kept me pulled in the whole time, well written story about resilience, kidnapping gone wrong with a flare of bad weather to go with it. Highly recommend.
