I had no idea what was going on. I assumed this was a stand alone series, but it connects to another series / story that I had never read.

Like other readers have pointed out, this book is very difficult to read without having read previous series. This series is dependent on knowledge from other series for it to make sense. Even having said that, I find this issue to have been very difficult because of the formatting. While the artwork is pretty, I had a hard time following what was going on. This issue is broken up by short chapters that reveal very little information on what is going on. This book is introducing a conflict between two vampire groups, but does not reveal much as to what is going on otherwise.
