I really liked this book. I was definitely rooting for Queenie, at the same time horrified at how things were going. It's overall really dark in terms of themes but I feel like they all serve the purpose.

I liked this book, it's incredibly raw, relatable and thought provoking. At times it was cringy or hard to get through because the FMC is flawed and real, she makes mistakes and says or does the wrong thing. I found myself either wanting to shake her or hug her.

Oh, this is a complicated book to rate and review, because Queenie is a complicated character to read about.

I appreciated seeing the development of Queenie and her relationships with her friends, her grandparents, aunt, and cousin, her mother, her boss, and the men in her life - and how each of them respected (or didn't) Queenie's boundaries and choices, while at the same time we get glimpses of how other characters' lives are going and what roles Queenie plays.

Is she a good friend? Is she a good daughter and granddaughter? Is she a good worker? Nothing is so black and white, good and bad, of course, but I was rooting for Queenie, even when she seemed determined to make destructive decisions.

I enjoyed this book. I felt like I could relate to Queenie when it came to her dating life and also her anxiety. The way her oncoming panic attacks were described made me remember how mine also felt. I’m happy that in the end of the book the focus was on Queenie and how much progress she made throughout the book and she didn’t need to end up with another man to have a “happy ending”.
