I really don't know how he keeps doing it, but this is my favorite series at the moment. Totally new story and approach to storytelling in this one but I didn't mourn the loss of Horowitz/Hawthorne interactions because every aspect of this was so good.

These are placeholder mysteries for me until I can listen to Richard Osman! They are ok.

This was very different from all the other Hawthorne & Horowitz books. For me, there wasn't enough Hawthorne OR Horowitz! Their interactions are some of my favorite parts of these novels, and going over a historic case took away some of the immediate danger and suspense of previous books. I do find the level of self-deprecation Anthony Horowitz writes for himself to be tiring sometimes, so I'm happy there was less of that, but this departure was a little too far away from the buddy cop/ partner in crime/dragging along dynamic the two usually have.
I was happy to see though that there are 7 more stories planned! Maybe the next will have a slightly better balance!

This book is immaculate. Anthony Horowitz never disappoints.
