A book that didn't really evoke any thoughts or feelings. A nice basic read.

I took me a while to appreciate the enormity and importance of this narration by the Africans who devotedly carry David Livingston's body out of the interior to the coast for transport to England. It is a wondrous education in the cultural, societal, historical, physical and emotional pressures of the day and how these remarkable people succeed. What a journey for them and for me. Thank you Petina Gappah.
