*TW for suicide*
Interesting start to the book and the characters were cute. It started out pretty good and with a different plot than I’m used to. I was interested to see how these two would come together after such a large issue between them.
Then the book kept going on and on circling the same thing. I wanted to shake them and say okay yeah you’ve had this freak out 20 times over we get it. Also the additional car crash plot point seems so big for it to amount to nothing. Interesting concept and start start, just not a closer for me.

- I loved this book so much. While I was not expecting it to be THAT kinda book (spice and trauma), it was well written.
- The characters are written with love and care. I found myself getting sad when I reached the last 50 pages because I would no longer have the characters.
- Their banter was everything
- I laughed, I cried, I yearned. This book had it all.
- Putting 4.75 stars here but really it’s a 9.2/10. Docking 0.8 points because the ending felt really rushed and (Spolier) Grant never addressed why he took the job in the first place with her

I started this book as an audiobook, but soon realized that the audiobook wasn't fast enough for me, and that I had to switch to my physical copy I bought for Indie bookstore day and I'm so glad I did.

This book took me longer than I thought it would, but honestly I'm glad it did. I'm glad I didn't gobble it up, and slowly enjoyed Helens and Grants story.

I wasn't sure how this love story would end. It is a romance, and you need a HEA but there was so much against them. I did find that the ending was severely rushed and that possibly another 20 or so pages would have been nice.

Overall, a great read. Would read another book written by Yulin.

I feel like you can tell this book is written by a screenwriter, and it’s fun to have a glimpse into that world.

There is a large car scene / suicide on the first page and a lot of the book deals with the trauma from that experience, from both the sister and the car driver. Helen (the sister) hasn’t seen the car driver, Grant Shepard (doesn’t that sound like a Hollywood name?) since the accident. Then he shows up as the script writer for her book series that is going into production.

Most of the book is from Helen’s pov, but sometimes it does alternate between her and Grant.

It was a fun read, with some spicy scenes (she actually lists the chapters at the end of the Acknowledgments) and lots of orgasms. Iykyk

“But Helen has created a very special window into her life that’s just for her parents… She stores up bad news like acorns in winter and metes them out in small doses, when she finally has good news to soften the blow.” P109

“She… wonders if emotional earthquakes have the same kind of internal fallout - rattled bones, shaken foundations, everything hanging on the walls slightly askew.” P200

“He woke up this morning feeling like he should make some space in his life for people with long winter coats….
Maybe, he thinks, I should just get rid of things I don’t need anymore.” P213
