This book is very cute. It made me laugh. I can't wait to read more about these wonderful characters.
Alice is a country girl who moves to NY city. Alice learns that everything is a faster pace but yet the same in some ways. Alice meets a rough city guy by accident. But he opens her heart and eyes to a whole new wonder land.

Dare is a handsome rough around the edges kind of guy. When he meets Alice his world changes for the better. Dare finds himself through Alice, he realizes he can open his heart and really love again. With Dare being famous in the art world can he still be a regular person with a private life?
I recommend this quick cute book for anyone who wants to have a laugh.

4.5 stars!

Alice and Dare both have complicated past relationships where when all the dark details come out they understand each other and their dark pasts which is refreshing from other stories where blame is placed because there is no understanding. Their love story is cute with hot, steamy scenes well placed in the storyline. The build up to the break up is minimal along with the break up itself which I also enjoyed. Loved this book and cannot wait to see how Harper Kincaid continues in this series.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH INKSLINGER PR. I ALSO PURCHASED A COPY FOR MYSELF AT MY OWN COST! I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I don't believe that I have read this author before now, so I was unsure what to expect when I finally sat down with it. I really didn't see it much like the Alice in Wonderland story, so felt that it was more of a marketing ploy to play on the popularity of Fairy Tale Retellings.

Alice and Dare felt too stereotypical to me, which made it hard for me to connect to them. Everything about their stereotypes was played up. Likewise, I couldn't form a connection to the supporting cast of characters.

The story did have a bit of an interesting premise, which raised the rating for me. It also felt like a cohesive story, despite the brevity of the book, so it also got marked up for that. One question I had though was why Alice wasn't using her professor's assignment as part of her defense at the inquiry. That omission made no sense to me, and would have been a valid way for her to defend herself, and possibly expose the unsavory professor.

I'm not sure I would continue the series, but it was a mostly engaging read!

Alice Leighton certainly knows how to stand up for herself – and I liked that about her. Dare Grangeworth has been outed about his attitude. There were several characters that made enough of an appearance that I can’t wait to see who makes it to book two.

There’s plenty of quizzical parrying going back and forth between these two – kept me very entertained. The author is good to her readers that you know from the very beginning what tale this book is based on. But she does a great job in making this story her own. It’s not a story that will have you thinking of people wearing cards running around. It won’t have you thinking of Johnny Depp’s version in the movie – unless you want to think of him as Dare.

I would like to think that if Lewis Carroll read this book, he would be impressed on what Ms. Kincaid was able to do with his story. But I would like to know what inspired her to write this twist. I liked reading quotes from Mr. Carroll – in a small way it connects the two stories. The author did a great job of getting me to laugh that just added to my enjoyment – very crafty. It was nice to have the dual point of view so that we know what the other was thinking. Alice was very good at standing up for her beliefs – she was a character that spoke very loudly here. Which character is going to speak loudly next?

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
