I loved this next instalment of this mafia series. Shay was the king of the North but has been accepted at a kingpin the South through an arranged marriage. Emma, was promised to Jack but when she finds out her groom to be is a northerner, she gets her brother to save her from this madness. Lots of going on between the families, the north/south divide and a vengeance that shay has wanted to claim for some time. The chemistry between Emma and shay is wonderful, yet brutal in some ways. They both are vulnerable yet together they find strength. Great book.

I have been a fan of this author for a while and she's one of my go to mafia/dark romance authors cause she always knocks it out of the park and Mafia King was no exception!

I feel the need to say this before I go into my review, this book is dark, and twisty and it won't be for everyone but if you love your romance dark, your heroes even darker and your heroines feisty then this might be the book for you!

I loved Shay and Emma, especially how fiery Emma was. She is forced to marry the kind of man she was raised to hate and she wants nothing to do with her Savage husband yet Shay seems to feed off her defiance in a way. The chemistry and banter between these two was definitely my favorite part of the book. I personally don't have triggers when reading so I was living for the dark, twisty parts of this story. I thought the author did a fantastic job with this story and I will definitely recommend it to my dark romance loving friends.

My Review

So this one was hands down my favourite I enjoyed the first book in this series but this one was even better.
This carry’s on with Shay O’Reagan kind of inheriting his cousin Jacks unwanted arranged marriage that his dad had originally schemed for.
Emma Murphy is now his intended bride and she’s far from willing, she expected Jack but Shay is from the north and is a complete savage in her eyes.

So initially I found Emma quite unreasonable and irrational. She seemed to have a limited sense of overall self-preservation and especially considering she has grown up in this type of lifestyle so you’d think she’d be a bit more savvy and accepting.

straight from the start, Emma gets Shay’s back up with her open hostility and that only intensifies when he realises just who’s daughter he’s been set up to marry.
Smelling a rat he packs up his bride and heads back north, both of them have others who want them dead so it's definitely not a match made in heaven.

These two may start out at loggerheads but what they do have is some explosive chemistry and it’s not long before Emma realises she has Shay all wrong.
He also starts to feel very protective over the little red-headed spitfire in his charge.

This really was action-packed throughout much more so than the first book.
Emma definitely grew on me and I liked Shay from the start even with all his violent tendencies and though he was far from perfect he wasn’t too proud to admit his mistakes either.
He is a bit of a hothead for sure and temper wise these two are a definite match and the sparks were certainly flying here.

With all the scheming from uncle Liam and with him bringing his son and Jacks brother Richard back into the mix, I’m now incredibly intrigued to meet him and see just how this shakes things up here.
I like this Irish mafia series a whole lot and will be picking up the next one in the series.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Mafia King (Young Irish Rebels #2).

I had been intrigued by Shay since we met him in Mafia Prince and I was not disappointed. The alpha gruff anti hero gives you all the swoon with all the dark! Enter Emma who has a fiery disposition and gives Shay a run for his money. The wit and banter between these two was utterly epic. Then their passion was off the charts! With every twist and turn, these two keep each other on their toes and leaves me begging for more. I have to say, I am in love with this series and the concept. It is dark and delicious with so much depth.

This was my first Vi Carter audiobook and I was hooked from start to finish. The story was so captivating and the narration was wonderful. It took some getting use to at first but the narrators did a great job with the emotions of each character. Mafia King is book two in the Young Irish Rebels series. It features Emma and Shay who are in an arranged marriage by their families only to find out they were pawns in a much bigger mafia game. This story is full of intense chemistry, violence, action, and shocking twists & turns you don’t see coming. I loved Emma & Shay’s relationship going from enemies to lovers. The whole story was intriguing and definitely made want to keep listening.
