I loved both of these books so much. I read them in one day. Marjane is such an incredible woman. She lived through things that I could never imagine while remaining herself always. I hope that I have 1/10 of her strength. Definitely going to have to buy this book and re-read it when I feel like my life is shitty and I have no control.

Side note: I watched the movie of this book years ago and I loved that too. Totally forgot how awesome it was.

I think I liked this book even more than the first volume (which I enjoyed quite a bit as well). In this volume, Marjane is struggling to find her identity in the world (an outsider semi-European while she's in Iran, but an Iranian immigrant while she lives in Austria). I thought this book delved into more personal and interesting issues- or at least issues that I find interesting to read about. Again, this history and vision of Iran was completely new to me and was totally fascinating, this should be required reading for high schoolers. And the art is fantastic and lends itself well to the story. I can't wait to watch the movie now!
