A fantastic accounting of the possible manifestations of the incoming AI revolution, which is more hopeful than hyperbolic. Provides foundational context for those of us not already embroiled in the debate and continues with insightful and altruistic recommendations for our approach as a species.

1. The robot's only objective is to maximize the realization of human values.
2. The robot is initially uncertain about what those values are.
3. Human behavior provides information about human values.

Probably the best intro to AI book of all the AI books I’ve read. This hits on all the main points at a surface level for anyone to understand.

I think the proposed solutions to AI challenges were interesting, but unconvincing. But that also wasn’t the point for the book.
