A story written from 2 POV, one from the events leading to a murder and another from a reporter investigating the murder after the fact. The two POV's alternate by chapter.

Spoilers:
The writing is easy to read and follow, I got into it right away. I liked the POV chronicling the events leading up to the murder, it follows 4 undergrad students at George Washington University and in particular 1 of them who ends up murdered.

The reporter POV was also quite good, though I found it a little too simplistic. In one instance, a police chief (albeit soon to retire) unbelievably gives her unprecedented access to his files even though he's never met her before. Also a medical doctor breaks the law to give her access and help her just because he's "curious" and also attracted to her.

The ending was too long once the murderer was revealed. But overall an easy to read and easy to finish book.

This was the perfect read… fast-paced, exciting, and with an extremely clever twist.

This is the fourth book of Donlea’s that I’ve read, and I like that he always intertwines police investigations, medical forensics, and investigative journalism.

My only gripe is that so much of the plot rests on the police coverup of the details of Becca’s death and the findings of the investigation, and the reason for that was never explained.

Really enjoyed reading this book. I actually live in the blue ridge mountains. So interesting to find a novel based in it. Loved the ending. A well rounded crime mystery. Would recommend to anyone that enjoys detective like novels.
