This book made me cry. That happens sometimes, but not often. Also, I was going to read just the first 3 books and move on - and I could, as it wrapped up the biggest plot points - but the ending still left me wanting more. Garth Nix did a great job on this one.

I read this series long ago when I was I think in middle school - it was way above my reading level at the time, unfortunately. Reading it now, I have almost no memory of having actually read it. So upon my re-read, I have to say: Why'd they have to kill the Dog?! Boooooo! I teared up. I loved those two (Lirael and the Dog). Totally lame. But 5 stars. I gave the last one 4 because I could not stand another chapter of Sam's POV. Ugh, lol.
