only 48 pages but all characters felt established with solid personalities.. it's crazy how this family writes.
Kept me at the edge of my seat and it actually scared me!

This is a well done short story. It is tight, suspenseful, and the characters are relatable and well developed. It isn’t life changing, but it is the sort I story I would love to be able to write.

Besides being a master of horror, Stephen King is also the master of the short story. It is no surprise that his son, Joe, also has wonderful talent. The short story is an art and this story is a wonderful collaboration. Short, supspenseful, great read.

Listened to while on an intensely long drive.

Surrounded by semi trucks.

Yeah, probably not the best idea, come to think of it. Should've found out what it was about beforehand.

I ended up listening to it twice (only about an hour and a half long), because it's one of those "starts in the middle and blooms outward" stories that needs a second read to get all the details. And even then, it's a short story, so the details you want aren't always the details you get.

That being said, it's a pretty fantastic short story. Both Hill and King are listed as authors, so I don't know who gets more credit, but King has always been at his best with his short stories, and my knowledge of Joe Hill's work is limited, but loved. And I think this is an utterly fantastic collaboration.

King has always had a way with psycho cars, and this takes that element and puts a human touch behind it. About halfway through the boom-crash part I realized what was going on, but the reveal was still pretty amazing to me. Talk about human touch. And then the father-son relationship, the final scene with them. It's pretty heart breaking, all in all.

For a short story, it packs quite a punch. Well done.

It was too short. It felt like the build-up was for something much longer, so the final events seemed sudden and too easily wrapped up. The writing, however, was engaging.

Trite and sad. I had expected more from the dynamic duo.
