This is the worst book I’ve ever read. I try to finish every book I start and this book has made me think that’s a really dumb position, because it did not get better, the plot didn’t develop into a plot, and the rambling incoherent mess, stayed rambling and incoherent. I hated it. But I gave it half a star because I had hope the entire way through that something would develop and make it worthwhile to slog through. Don’t be like me. Give up early or don’t start.

Started out interesting, but was such a messy book I couldn't keep track of what was going on and it seemed like you were supposed to know who people were and what places meant in relation to each other.

Very rambly, difficult to follow dialogue, didn't care about what happened to anyone.

I was not really sure how I felt about this book, even after I finished it.  If this book was trying to be scary, it was not scary enough.  There were aspects of the book that made some parts feel out of good pacing.  I think that the plot was the best part of the book.  It also felt like the author did not dive in deep enough into some background.  I felt like some mechanics were not fully explained and I would have loved to see more explanations about the characters and the world.  Besides the development lacking a bit, I enjoyed this book.  It was intriguing and I wanted to know when justice would be served to all the people who were murdered.
Although, when I think about it, justice was technically not served to the murdered and murderers.

found this truly unreadable. wooden dialogue, boring archetypes instead of characters, and needed some really heavy editing. haven't been impressed much by Piper's writing. bumped up a star for trans authors writing trans characters, as that's a cool element

Underneath all of the darkness, death and destruction lies a beautiful love story. Fantastically written by Hailey Piper, this is the tale of a godly descendant doing whatever is necessary to save her world. So much sadness leads to a blinding light everyone needs. Highly recommend!
