I remembered really enjoying this series when I was in high school, and I was excited to reread. I wouldn’t say it was awful, I did start off the read amid a reading slump. I also didn’t like Clary, and found the rest of the characters way more enjoyable. I enjoyed the middle part of the book and almost would have given it four stars based on that alone, but the vampire chapter, which I remember liking the least of the book my first read through, and from there I skimmed. I will be reading the rest of the series as I remember enjoying those immensely better, but I’m unsure if I’m as excited as I was before.
