This book started out really strong and lost steam halfway through. The chemistry between the leads was palpable in the first half and their banter was great, but once they actually got together, it got boring. I also wasn’t a fan of the end. The last 15% of the book was totally unnecessary. It was just an overdone miscommunication trope that went on for WAY to long.

It wasn't bad, but the last few chapters were a bit disappointing. For the romance to fully develop in the span of barely a month was a bit unbelievable. I liked Lucien's character development in Reforming a Rake much more.

A strong-headed, feminist mistress and a rake on a bet. A group of wonderful students in a finishing school. Oooh, it was swoony and romantic and encouraging.

It took me sometime to figure out how I felt about this.
Positives: I laughed at several different points in the book. This book was the most feminist romance novel I've ever read. The banter between Emma and Grey was thoroughly entertaining. The girls!
Negatives: The faux-love triangle. The presence of Alica + Silvia. Lastly, I didn't care about the main couple. I didn't root for their happy ending the way that I wish I did. It took me awhile to understand why, and the conclusion is that I didn't like Emma. I liked Grey. I even liked Emma and Grey interacting together, but Emma as a character irked me. She didn't change much. She was so Stern and Strict and judgey with Grey, even after they slept together. I wish I'd seen her soften more toward him. We definitely saw his development, and I wish we saw hers more.
This book is great, and I'd see why people love it.
UPDATE 4/6/2020: This romance has a weird balance between the two conflicts of the story. The couple is angsty AND also faces external conflicts to their relationship. I try to avoid angst in my romances and this one is pretty angsty for a historical romance. Furthermore, as I mentioned above, the weird double love triangles were weird. They did nothing for the story except add unnecessary confusion and pacing + tension issues.
