Briar is back, back again! And this time, there's more... more mystery, more twists, more darkness. It's the perfect sequel, even if you haven't read book 1, but I'm totally in for this. First off, love this cover. It's gorgeous and perfect for the book. Second, Scott's writing continues to be fantastic, good pacing, descriptive enough, and engaging. Easy to read and enjoy.
As for the story, we come back for more with Briar. A girl after my heart who just wants brunch with a side of extra brunch, but that's not gonna be the case. We are faced with sleeping sickness, a power grab from the military, and a definite hindrance for brunch. It's such a great story. It continues the smart, witty writing, and takes us deeper into Briar and her powers then we've gone before. I really was laughing one minute, while holding on to the edge of my seat. And, if that's not enough, we've got two love interests that Briar needs to figure out when she's not saving lives and being badass. Another fantastic book in this series and I am so down for more!
