Amazing novel. It gives such good insight into revolution, the fight for liberation, and blockades and protests, through a fictional story. Love it and it's connection to Pet. Brilliant!

Loved the world-building and the fable-like quality. I also appreciated how it was semi, not completely distopian. Like, yes, things are bad, but also normal life continues.

I enjoyed this as well. I am not sure which order I think they would be better read in, but you can see similarities in the plot and some repetitiveness which is fine for YA. I loved the themes throughout and while predictable, it was still a good read for young minds. lots of diversity, inclusion, and acceptance.

For me, there was just too much set up and discussing; resulting in me not caring for the first 7 chapters, feeling pretty meh about the following 4, and enjoying the last 5. Maybe it's because of what we've been living in for the past few years, but this exhausted me. Having said that, I really appreciate the themes and topics explored in this book (and the more or less objective point of view on how to handle such situations). I just feel that maybe this was the wrong time for me to read this.

Usually I would pick a prettier quote if I was going to put one, but:
"'This shit isn't even about justice anymore -- it's about survival.'"
