I love Bukowski so freaking much.
He's just...relatable, to some extent.

i originally picked up this book because i had read several of his poems and enjoyed the melancholy, however, i sadly, misjudged his writing and was left greatly disappointed.

i got about half way through this book and had to stop. perhaps i’m missing something, but this genuinely wasn’t interesting or good, to me. bukowski seems to me, a bitter man who got bored and decided to write poems about him drinking beer, being quite horrible to women, and using “the crapper.” i would not recommend this book to anyone who loves good poetry, however, if my description of this book has intrigued someone, give it a whirl.

description
"too much
too little
too fat
too thin
or nobody"
- the crunch, page 162

Between the often unpleasing words that Bukowski uses to write his poems is a certain sense of despair that I found morbidly alluring. Bukowski writes with no filter which may turn some people off, but if you stick around you might find some beauty in the ugliness that Bukowski so crudely illustrates, in the somber, murky and lonely narrative that lines the pages of this collection.

Personal favorites include:
- quiet clean girls in gingham dresses
- for al
- Chopin Bukowski
- when I think of myself dead
- the crunch
- a killer
