Yet another excellent sports book by Mike Lupica. I really liked the relationship between father and son in this one. The baseball writing was also outstanding, which is to be expected from a professional sportswriter. Highly recommended.

Kids books by a sportswriter I don’t like – yet another baseball book about a kid who faces adversity and has to overcome up, etc. I feel like children’s sports books are very paint-by-number and this one is ultimately no different. I know they fill a need, and they’re great for kids who wouldn’t pick up a book otherwise, but wow. I’ve read so many kids sports books over the years and they blend together so easily…
