A meandering read with little/no plot, which is usually tough for me, but I enjoyed it.

This was a really interesting read.

Spoiler It was giving POV relationship abuse, which was sometimes tough, and often (intentionally) uncomfortable.

The most successful element of the book was the visceral nature of the storytelling. Crimp makes the reader feel everything that is happening in the protagonist’s body, which evokes joy, pain, sadness, horror, unease, anxiety, excitement, delight, and more. It is a unique experience.

The book offers some subtle and other times obvious feminist messaging, but it never feels painfully on-the-nose. It is overt when it needs to be. It is straightforward and thought-provoking.

It was ok, the ending I didn’t understand what exactly happened? But I guess it isn’t really the point of  the story and her development is so, it doesn’t really matter. Still…

an intriguing story about a twenty-something aspirational opera singer and her love affair with an older man. reminds me of conversations with friends and cleopatra and frankenstein. if you are going through a creative career crisis, don't read it lol.

eksplorasi power dynamics-nya bareng max cukup menarik. meskipun kesel sama manipulasi yg dilakukan laki-laki yg katanya mau cerai sama istrinya itu. alexa, play would've could've should've by taylor swift :(

tapi yg paling aku suka justru tema tentang pernikahannya sih. bukunya menghighlight bahwa gak semua perempuan punya tujuan sebagai ibu dan istri. keinginan kita untuk terus mengejar mimpi itu gak masalah kok. emang paling bener buat bergaul dengan orang yg pikirannya sama sih. (alias pindah ke new york aja kali ya haha)

sayang cerita anna dan laurie justru gak banyak di eksplor. padahal cerita kompleks female friendship di umur 20an lebih menarik dibandingkan cerita cintanya bareng max.
