Fun sci-fi military story. The sci-fi/worldbuilding elements were much more interesting to me than when the story veered more heavily into the military genre. When it really dug into the weirdness of the premise and didn’t try to be a serious war novel that happened to feature talking bipedal animals and a super-intelligent ant, Mort(e) was a blast.

Interesting concept, boring execution. I'm not sure why the cat searched for so many years for a dog he met just a few times. Also, ridiculous plot with weird religious messages (not sure if they're pro or con).

I got less than one chapter in before deciding this book was not for me. Too…something? Unsettling, I think.
Graphic: Animal death, Violence, Murder, Animal cruelty, and War

This was a good one. The comparison to Animal Farm is unavoidable, but this is a different story, more a thoughtful exploration of the qualities that make us human, and how they might be different from those in other intelligent species. Interesting read

I liked it. Lots of war and religion themes and an interesting perspective of humanity.
