Weaving Fate

Octavia Kore

3.55 AVERAGE

As someone who grew up in a household with deaf and hard of hearing family who used cochlear implants, I loved Clara's story. I thought her disability was handled well by the authors and I really appreciated them making an often "hidden" disability visible.
Zaheer and Clara had their own personal journeys of self discovery to deal with on top of exploring their matehood. As a start to a new world within Octavia Kore's established universe, I think it is fantastic. Known for menage books, this gives readers of m/f a something new. (And if you like menage and m/f, its just more to love.)

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I normally love these authors books but this one just didn’t grab me.

3.5 rounded up. I liked this world and the characters. Even though the aliens were supposed to be spider based, they were the least spider based creatures you could describe, which is good. HEA. A few parts of the story lulled, could have done without quite a few of the chapters but the Insta-mates were not being rushed, still took a while to break down some barriers which I appreciated.

Picturing our make lead was hard to imagine, but this love story was so good! The number of sacrifices made from the beginning to the end was well done. The fated instant love story is still a favorite. Octavia's imagination when creating these worlds leaves me speechless.

I really enjoyed this it’s the second book I’ve read by these authors and I’m now definitely going to check out their backlist and though this is loosely connected to previous books this one can definitely be read as a stand-alone. It’s well written and very imaginative. The authors have built such a fascinating world here. I’m also a sucker for real aliens and this had that vibe in spades.

I adored the fact that the heroine had a disability she’s actually deaf and I found this so refreshing. I also thought it was tackled sensitively. So our heroine here is Clara, she and another female Layla are part of a party of outsiders that have crashed on this planet and whilst out searching for food they wander into Krunkeelie territory the native inhabitants of this world.

Zaheer is a guardian and Alpha to his pack. They are the protectors of his people and as such have two forms their Krunkeelie one which is very spider-like with the ability to spin webs and a guardian form which is more canine think hell hound. Zaheer also houses two consciousnesses his own and then a separate one belonging to the guardian he shape-shifts into.

From the moment he spies Clara his guardian insists that she is there’s but Zaheer does take a little more convincing he took vows and one of them includes celibacy and the inability to take a mate his loyalties are to his pack people and the priests, not an outsider and being with her will break his oaths but he can’t seem to help being drawn to the strange-looking female that he is now starting to realise is his.

Clara’s back story is pretty crap abducted from earth and experimented on by the Grutex an alien race who enhanced her DNA she is now able to project her thoughts into others' heads she can also read memories. She has escaped one bad situation only to be thrown directly into another. But her alien captor is strangely kind and seems fascinated by her and she also finds herself instantly drawn to him as well and it’s not long before she’s falling fast.

This two had definite chemistry and the intimate scenes were scorching hot. There’s danger and intrigue and a battle for acceptance. I loved how imaginative this was and also how alien the hero was. This was such an easy imaginative read with some multi-faceted characters and though it was quite insta in nature here it did work there was also enough going on elsewhere with the story direction to keep this interesting and moving along. I definitely recommend this I enjoyed it a lot and overall it was a good read.

Fun, but plot is a little worn if you read the previous series.

I found this whole thing dragged out and exhausting. I am not sure if I am going to read the next book in the series whenever it comes out.
