I found myself wanting the story to be over and while one mystery is solved another is not. It was good with some twists and turns just took to long to get there imo.

Very good set up, odd ending. Which I feel like was the point. The author never wanted us to be able to sleuth what had happened, so they wrote this outlandish, clipped ending.

Great mystery

Psychological thriller. Who did it? A mystery upon mystery. I really enjoyed this one. For fans of Ruth Ware, please read!

Thanks to me for forgetting my book at home (and finishing my backup book) which resulted in me picking up this monstrosity🫢
All the characters in this book were very unlikeable people. The protagonist was so extremely detached to her “invisible friend” that it made her a very unreliable POV (which may have been the point? Idk the invisible friend thing was just weird). Half the mystery didn’t even start until 150 pages in which is way too late. Also, all of the chapters set in the past were written in second person which I LOATHED!!! At times I did find myself intrigued to see what was going to happen next but that’s all this has going for it.

Would have enjoyed this more if what felt like the main mystery had been solved, so was a bit disappointed with the ending.

I honestly have mixed feelings about this one. Or to be rather I don't know how to feel about this one.

The blurb was a very interesting, made me want to read the book righ away. Story revolves around Lucy, who is a best selling author of a detective series featuring Elisa. Elisa is Lucy imaginary friend since childhood that nobody knows about, and she sees her, talks to her. Problem begins when Lucy's husband Dan, goes missing, only to be later found dead. Police start investigating and soon find out that when Lucy was 9 years old her little brother teddy had also gone missing mysteriously and was never found.

The chapters were alternating between now and then in a dual timeline told from the point of view of Lucy, the main protagonist. To me the main protagonist seemed very confused and she kept on doing very crazy things including breaking into others houses and digging up graves. I mean it did not make sense to me.

Biggest turn off for me was - where is the closure? I mean I understand that this was supposed to be a psychological thriller and lot of psychological thrillers has a hanging end, but this one is was just incomplete. Not to reveal any spoilers but by the end of the book The sort of get a idea of what must have happened but there is no closure.

Have enjoyed some of this authors work but found the ending really disappointing and was sticking through it to see how it ended. Not my fav.

I have read every one of Gilly Macmillan’s books and she is definitely one of my favorite authors. She never disappoints! I only wish ALL was revealed in the ending. But I still loved it!
