7/10- This book was a great simple read, and I definitely enjoyed it a lot due to it being based off the Odyssey. I had a deeper found appreciation for this book because I’ve read the Odyssey, and found Percy’s adventures quite amusing due to the starking similarity.

“I wasn't sure whether I was supposed to kneel or buy stamps from him or what.”

So my second written exam is in roughly, like, four days. And what am I doing? Having a Percy Jackson Marathon. I've not touched these books in years, and when it's the most inconvenient, I get overwhelmed by an urge to read all of these books in the span of a few days.

But they're just that good. I think I liked The Lightning Thief a little more than this one, and maybe it's "only" a 4.5 star rating, but like expected, Rick Riordan's writing and characters were as witty and entertaining as ever, and you just learn so much about Greek Mythology in such a nonchalant way? Like, I googled a lot of it while reading and also afterwards and everything pretty much applies to the stories or at least, shares similar elements.

I wasn't really sure if I liked Tyson or if I found him rather annoying, but in the end, when he reveals that he pretty much asked Poseidon for Percy, I came around to be really touched and to like him a lot, as a result. He is just so kind and clueless and has a brave and loyal soul. I hope we get to see him again very soon!

Clarisse was just so annoying. Like, I'm looking forward to her and Percy getting along a little better, which I hope and think will happen, and she did leave her hard shell for a while, but the various things she did and said that caused them problems during the mission just made me roll my eyes so hard. Sooooo annoying. I do like her a little more, though, I guess.

Spoilers already told me that Annabeth and Percy will become a real thing in the course of the next books, and I do think implications are already getting heavy. I ship it already, so that's great.

I just like these books a lot. There's simply always something happening, it never gets boring, you learn a lot, you laugh out loud a couple of times. And you finish them in, like, a second.

Looking forward to The Titan's Curse!

I still like the plot & where the story is heading, but he often repeats what happened already. I understand stating it once in the beginning to recap last book, but it's more than once. Sometimes, stuff that already takes place in this book is repeated like we've forgotten that quickly.

I enjoyed Sea of Monsters because it continued to twist and turn with occasional hints at the future, allowing speculation, and occasionally without warning, while still being believable. And the characters are all fully fleshed with real motives and not just bah-ha-ha I'm the bully type thing.
