i love Tate's book and this series was no exception, it's such a novel take on contract killers.
We pick up the story where we left it in Dead Drop and discover more about Danny's family and project Remus. Kai and Leon are forced to work together, reluctantly to track danny down and agree to her relationship terms. It's an action packed book with assassins constantly coming after them, making their job of uncovering whos behind the guild plots and Kill Order against Danny.
We see Kai looking after Leon when the guild comes after him with a virus and the guys working together well to assist Danny.
Loved Danny's interaction with her new found family, especially her little brother, really wasn't expecting that. Project Remus is exposed and dismantled and Kai's sister Moana gets closure despite betraying Kai.
This book was a perfect ending to the series with all our questions answered, another masterpiece from Tate.

4.5 I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters and their personalities were easy to love (or hate). Towards the ending/climax, it got sort of overwhelming trying to keep up with the who's who btwn all the players in the game; all the members of the circle or guild and whatnot. I mean, at this point, I'm like the whole family tree is a wreath.
I had started off reading on my kindle. However, i am soOOoo glad I was able to complete the other 90% via audiobook. Bc the narrarators for Kai and Leon were...*ahem* on fire! (I gotta admit, when kai spoke in his other native? language, I cringed.)
Good read tho, overall.

I'm learning James's last book in a series tend to be significantly longer than the others and I don't always know how I feel about that other than sometimes I realize "dang, this book I long." I can't say there's anything really wrong with it, but the length of the prior books compared to the last are noticeably different. For some reason this book felt like that.

With that said...I liked The Guild and the different type of woman we saw in this series compared to MK or Hades. I liked the espionage, but could have used more of that rather than the secret society that's even more secret than The Guild. Say, what? I did find The Guild and The Circle interesting entities and we live more with The Circle in this book and learning about them and what they've done with genetics and kids. Crazy.

I liked Kai and Leon still. I appreciated the kind of gradual acceptance that they had being in a throuple with Danny. I thought it worked well and wasn't forced or sudden. As a reader, we went along for the ride with what happened to all of them in this book.

Overall, I liked the end and conclusion. In a similar vein to Hades in ways, but I enjoyed it and glad it was only a trilogy.

I now no longer can rank the Shadow Grove series...They're all very similar, but the FMCs make them different enough and how the guys join in. This world is a blast, though.

Mrs Tate James, you’ve done it again. Every series of hers is always a masterpiece, and this one is no exception to that rule.

This was an amazing ending to The Guild series, and I am so sad to see these characters go. It’s been a crazy ride to get here, and it was action packed the whole way.

Danny, Leon and Kai have all grown so much through these books, both individually and together. We were unsure what the relationship with all of them was going to be when the series started, but they all come together beautifully in the end.

While I will miss these characters, I am so happy to finally see them get their happily ever after, even if it is still action packed for the lot of them, given their line of work. I also know that I’ll see them again in the future when Tate takes us back to the world of Shadow Grove.

Until next time!

Amazing series

I absolutely loved this series! I don't really have enough words to describe how much I enjoyed Danny, Leon and Kai.

Kill Order was packed full of twists and turns that kept me guessing and didn't slow down. Wonderful writing and great characters!!

Hmm, so I didn't like the first half (which was like 400 pages because this book is so unnecessarily long) but the second half (again, the size of a regular-ass book) was better.

I liked Leon better in this one than the first two, Kai is still a marshmallow, and I was NOT a fan of the betrayals that happened or the bad guy - like, one of my least favourite tropes is
being betrayed by the best friend!! It makes me never trust friendships in books and I just don't like it. Also, Mo betraying them was also annoying.
Just unwanted drama and angst.
