Okay. Follows a similar plot to his other books. The writing, at times bland, did draw me in however, so credit is due there.
Overall though, I feel like it is a slightly lazy attempt to follow on with his previous success.

Khaled Hosseini can never do wrong. I didn't think I could like this book more than The Kite Runner, but it was brilliant and it made me feel so many things all at once. I could never get tired of Khaled's writing.

I don’t quite know how to rate this book, but one thing is for sure—Khaled Hosseini is a wonderful storyteller and phenomenal writer. The structure of this book was…different. It certainly wasn’t bad, but it felt kind of, I don’t know, difficult at times. I enjoy multi-POV stories in general but sometimes struggle with multi-timeline stories. I found myself struggling to find my footing at the beginning of most sections and had to work to ground myself in the characters, settings, and timelines. Each chapter/section almost felt as if it was a completely new story, and maybe it was meant to feel that way. It just took me a while to get my bearings each time. I almost felt like I needed to take notes to keep the connections straight. Even so, I found myself in awe of Hosseini’s beautiful writing (not surprising, based on his other books), and I enjoyed seeing how the different characters’ lives intertwined and how the actions of one generation had a ripple effect into the lives of future generations.

Another great from Khaled Hosseini. He did a brilliant job weaving the lives of many people together over a span of many years. Beautiful!

This was the first book of his that I’ve read and I honestly did not like it. I felt as though 2 stars would’ve been too low seeing as I did appreciate the text and imagery. But, to me, the story fell short.

There were far too many story lines, many of them unimportant in the grand scheme of things. When the minor characters’ stories were finally getting somewhere they were then cut-short.

To me, the main story of the siblings was very touching but overall it seemed very slow and unorganized. This, for me, wasn’t a book I was eager to flip through to read-on. It wasn’t a completely mesmerizing story as I’ve heard the others are.
