definitely my least favorite installment this far, but still an entertaining read. Elisa’s villain-style full-on monologues were *chef’s kiss* and so many things about the ending had me smiling like a fool. also, elves!?! i’m not ready… but i’m still wholly invested in this universe and can’t wait for more.

3.5ish out of 5 stars ⭐️

This installment picks up after the events of the last book and deals with the ramifications of Elisa turning a human into a vampire.

The humor is always on point-as is typical of Chloe Neill. The romance moved along well, and while I’m not always into friends-to-lovers there are some nice moments (although I must admit that I can be a fool for angst, and wish there was a bit more here-she has so much juicy material for it!).

It was a nice paced read, although it fell off for me a bit at about 2/3 as I was hoping for something a bit bigger in terms of the big bad and some monster action.
I was also unaware, until after reading this story, that there will be more books, so I am less disappointed in the overall arcs of Elisa, her monster, and her wolf.

Probably my fav in the series yet! I can't wait to see how this all goes with Conner and Elisa. Also, clearly Alexei and Lulu need to bum uglies already.

My least favorite in the Heirs of Chicagoland series.

⭐️ - creative.
⭐️ - I think an argument could be made for innovative. And I felt bad giving just 1 star

You know how some spinoffs start out strong but lose steam with each new release? Not the case with Heirs of Chicagoland - this series is every bit as compelling and entertaining as the OG Chicagoland Vampires. The blossoming romance between Elisa & Connor is equally as riveting as Merit and Ethan’s, and the combined shifter-vampire dynamic really takes their connection to the next level. This new intersection of supernatural worlds introduces endless potential for new problems, storylines and adventures to come in Neill’s exciting world of Chicago’s supernaturals.

Enjoying this series.

I really do love Elisa! She a complex but also simple character, that makes you just love her. Is is truly Merit & Ethan rolled into one: fierce, loyal, compassionate, and a whole lot of sass.
