That was weird. And horrifying.

Also oddly lyrical. And sometimes I laughed. (Should I admit that?)

It's a Western.

[Pank] Magazine/Gabino Iglesias has a good review of it: https://pankmagazine.com/2014/10/14/review-motherfucking-sharks-brian-allen-carr/

You don't need reviews to know if this is a book for you but I will offer a word of caution from my own experience - do NOT go to the Mutter Museum the same week you read this or you will be in absolute gross-out overload.

Obviously the whole concept of this book is to make the reader absolutely cringe with disgust but the writing is surprisingly good and the alternative writing styles and formats keep it really interesting.

There is an entire story, which was unexpected, and the characters actually feel real for all the outlandish things that happen.

Long story short, I obviously had very low expectations for this title but they far exceeded them and possibly introduced me to a new genre of good writing about really ridiculous topics.

This book is fucked up and I do NOT mean that in a good way.

We start with an incest scene that does nothing for the plot, then we have a cannibal stew, not to mention the words “motherfucking sharks” are used 18 times in this very short book. And two whole pages are just the word “rain”.

But what really made me DNF this book in disgust was the bit where the author says “picture for me the child you love most...give me a child put joy in its heart I’m going to fuck it up...I want to kill the fucking baby” and it goes on for TWO PAGES!

Yuck. I didn’t even make it to the sharks
