I was going to give this 2 stars, just because this was way too tense and unpleasant for my tastes, but Jennifer very generously made it up to us in the last few chapters, so I bumped it back up to 3.

FTR, the sexual assault in this book is not explicit, it is quite vaguely described, but I still found it disturbing and quickly skimmed over the two worst ones.

Full of uncomfortable, stressful dark moments, yet with a very satisfying and hopeful conclusion/ending. Worth sticking through reading 100%

the only reason this is getting 4 stars is bc i absolutely love sera and nyktos, but this literally could’ve been edited down to 200 pages and nothing would’ve changed — barely anything actually happened, but everything that did happen was dragged out wayyyy too long :/ i am looking forward to book 4 bc i think (and hope 🤞) it’ll actually have more of a plot, along with characters i love sm

My god this book was nothing but pain. We didn’t get any plot until 70% in, and then almost none after. I guessed every “twist” way before it happened because this woman’s idea of foreshadowing is to beat you over the head with “hints”. Our main characters spent almost the entire book apart, and then when they got together all they did was fuck and talk about things we already know. This book made me want to tear my hair out from sheer boredom and frustration.

It was really slow with Sera being captured by Kolis and once her and Ash are back together it's like JLA made up all of the missing sex scenes. I skimmed the last portion because of how MUCH damn sex they were having.

This book spent way too long in the first half hitting you over the head with Kolis and the angst only for all the pieces to unroll roughly as expected.
