I had to deduct some points from this one because theres like a whole chapter that's literally just Ash and Sera having sex. It's like 8 times and I'm sorry but no one can come that much in a sitting lmao it was tedious to read through when the steam is usually so strategically placed.

I was going to give this 2 stars, just because this was way too tense and unpleasant for my tastes, but Jennifer very generously made it up to us in the last few chapters, so I bumped it back up to 3.

FTR, the sexual assault in this book is not explicit, it is quite vaguely described, but I still found it disturbing and quickly skimmed over the two worst ones.

I love me a good steamy vampire romance. HOWEVER: 1. if you are gonna write high fantasy, dont use phrases and concepts that literally never would happen in a pre-industrialization world. Like why tf are you making a "fast food" joke? 2. THERE ๐Ÿ‘ IS ๐Ÿ‘ NO ๐Ÿ‘ NEED ๐Ÿ‘ FOR ๐Ÿ‘ GRAPHIC ๐Ÿ‘ DESCRIPTIONS ๐Ÿ‘ OF ๐Ÿ‘ VIOLENCE ๐Ÿ‘ AGAINST ๐Ÿ‘ WOMEN ๐Ÿ‘ IN ๐Ÿ‘ A ๐Ÿ‘ FANTASY ๐Ÿ‘ BOOK. Honestly, there are very few situations that this type of violence should be used in any fiction book.

TBH if I wasn't such a sucker for this series it would be rated lower.

A Fire In The Flesh (Flesh and Fire Book 3)
Rating : โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

โ€œYouโ€™re brave, strong, and resilient. You donโ€™t need anyone to fight your battles. You never have. You donโ€™t now.โ€ My chest rose and fell rapidly as I listened to him.โ€œBut I will fight for you.โ€

A guttural, inhuman growl shook the cage. โ€œGet your f@!*ing hands off my wife.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m sorry I didnโ€™t get to you sooner, but Iโ€™ve got you now, liessa, and I wonโ€™t let go. Iโ€™ll never let go again.โ€

...........................................................

As this is book 3 of the Flesh and Fire series, my review will be short so as to not give any spoilers, but oh my gosh! So many things were happening in this book. I mean there was love, conflict, surprises, twists, and more! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time wondering how this part of the story was going to conclude. Let me tell you, I wasn't mad about it ๐Ÿ˜‰. I feel like this was the perfect conclusion for this section of the story, and I absolutely cannot wait to see where this series goes next!

Also, some of you may feel like this is blasphemous, but Daddy Nyk Nyk and Sera are now sitting at the top of my fictional couples list. I absolutely love these two together! Nyktos continues to be the ultimate man in every way imaginable, and Sera is so strong, resilient, and as I've said before, a true woman warrior. These two together... mmm, chef's kiss ๐ŸคŒ. I just have no words!

P.S. I feel like reading order does matter in this series and the crossover to the Blood and Ash series.

The hardest of the JLA books I've read. A lot of dark themes. Some disturbing content. A lot of significant plot movement for the larger narrative. It's definitely leaving me with strong suspicions for the end of the first series and next book of this one.

Yeah.. I don't know about this one... Lots of important info that was drawn out for no reason. This should've been like 200 pages and the info we learned would've been more impactful. Also... the last couple of chapters when
Nyktos went into his primal form
, I was laughing so hard. I don't often cringe at spice scenes but wtf was that lmaoooo.
