This book was really really amazing, and broke my heart. This is the story of the last turtle brother as he grieves and gets revenge for his lost family. This story is great for those who love the TMNT, especially those for whom the turtles are nostalgic. It's understandable for people who've never read TMNT comics before or haven't seen all the cartoons/movies, but I wouldn't consider it a starting off point if you don't know anything about the turtles. I myself have only seen most of the movies and 1 season of a cartoon from the 80s as a kid, and there was only one important character I'd never met before: Professor Honeycutt . The story provided most of the context I needed for that character anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. The pacing of this story was really good, and all the artwork was amazing, I especially loved the pages done by Kevin Eastman. Overall this was a really amazing story and definitely one I'd recommend. Spoilers: I was so heartbroken to find out Mikey was the last ronin. I'd been so convinced it was Leo, he was just so sad and old that I thought there was no way it was Mikey! Looking back I should've known haha, the text boxes for his thoughts are orange, of course it's Mikey. I remember wishing the whole time that just once he would say 'kowabunga!' But of course, he didn't exactly have a reason to kowabunga anymore, did he? I'm glad he's with his family in their little new york afterlife, and I'm definitely excited to see what's going on with these four new little turtle dudes...
