I think others will probably enjoy this book more than I did. I like monster romances, and I kept expecting the love interest to surprise her with the fact that he might be a shifter or something, so needless to say, I was disappointed when he was just a regular dude with a primal kink.

If youā€™ve been here a while, you know friend to lovers are not books I typically read BUT this bookā€¦. I may have to pick more up because dang I liked this.

This is the second book in the Holinights series which takes place on Saint Patricks Day, like the first one, it is a holiday romance but itā€™s not shoved down your throat about it being a holiday romance so I really liked that.

I really loved that we got backstory about Samantha and Adrian, we get snippets of their childhood and what has led up to them now. While itā€™s not a ton of backstory, it was enough for me to get to know the two MCs and believe in their relationship now. Honestly, they were cute and I loved them.

The spicy scenes in this book really just scratched an itch that I needed scratched.

Primal Play.

If youā€™re not into primal play or the hunting kink go ahead and skip this one because thatā€™s the major kink in this.

It was done so well and the author did such a good job at working me up to this scene, I was basically on the edge of my seat waiting to get to the primal play. Now Adrianā€™s sense of smell seems to be a bit better than others considering he can apparently smell her arousal (as if itā€™s an omegaverse or paranormal type romance). Honestly, I didnā€™t really think anything of it and it didnā€™t take away from the story for me but some may not be able to get past that.

Outside of the primal play, letā€™s not forget that Samantha caught Adrian masturbating because of her. And she watchesā€¦ great.

No thoughts, just happy vibes.

This was short, sweet, and a fun little book. I think if youā€™re getting into books with primal play this would be a good way to start. Iā€™ve only read 2 other books with primal play and they both came from dark, reverse harems. This would be a much lighter way to dip your toe into this kink.

Okay so I've read some books with primal play before, but with the childhood best friends to lovers trope thrown in... It just hits different.

I will forever mourn the fact that this was a novella and not a full length novel. Adrian and Samantha, y'all have my heart.

I feel like I don't have much to say about this since it was so short, but the storyline was decent! I do love a good childhood best friends to lovers and the primal play was a nice touch added to it (nice is probably not the right word but you know what I mean). For a novella, it was solid!

TWs: alcohol consumption, sexual harassment

Rep/Tropes/Themes: sapphic SC, light BDSM/primal play, aftercare, touch her and I'll kill you, childhood best friend to lovers

Sexy hide and seek. Friends to lovers and the cutest epilogue for a novella, I've ever read.
