This is probably my favorite series, but this book was a drag. It was nice to know what the gang has been up to, though. I wish Ruby got to actually have a conversation in the book. Liam, as always, I love you. Zu made a lot if trouble for a lot of people. It would have really tied it together in the end if Zu got to talk to Ruby. But, LIAM BUILT HIS TREEHOUSES. LIAM AND RUBY HAVE “KIDS.”

This book was a masterpiece in every way. I went into it not knowing if I would like it because there was a different narrator and so many new characters, but I loved it even more than the other books in this series. This story was HEART BREAKING, BEAUTIFUL, and INSPIRING, I’ve never had such a strong emotional connection to a book before this The Darkest Legacy. I know there has already been four books in this series, but this story could go on forever and I would always keep reading. Alexandra Bracken has created such a remarkable series and such remarkable characters. Zu’s strength and bravery will always be in my heart now. I wish I had half of her love and courage. Each and every character in this series has such an incredible story. After reading this, I have to say I think this is my favorite book EVER. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS STORY

I am so upset that I didn't read this sooner. Alex made it so easy to fall back into this world and back in love with these old (and new ROMAN <3) characters. I loved every minute of this book. The familiarity was there, but there was also the unknowing of what would happen next or who would do what. The scene in the Pit was one of my favorite parts. Alex has a way with writing action scenes that makes you feel as though your life is as much at stake as the characters'. The integration of the original crew was so wonderful, but it didn't take away from the book being Zu's story. For the last 100 pages or so, I could not put the book down. I was terrified how the ending would play out, but Alex did it in a way where all of the important stuff was tied up, there are still some plot lines that can be further explored and characters to be followed. I would love to learn more about Lana, and her relationship with Priya and Roman (and I want more Zu/Roman Ruby/Liam action). I think the subtle romance was perfect for the story line though. I just loved it so much. I want more in this world. I want to see my girl Zu kick ass and be the best damned Psion Ring leader to ever be.

God, I’ve missed this so much!
It wasn’t ever boring and it kept me on the edge. I’m going to reread the series soon cause this was absolutely everything!

Enjoyed getting back into the world. I didn't get a chance to re-read the OG trilogy before diving into this and my enjoyment didn't suffer for it. Bracken did a great job of bringing new readers into this twisted world. It left me yearning for more!

I expected so much from this book. I wanted to see how the characters ended up after the events of the previous books and for me the book just didn't live up to that expectation.

Nonetheless, the book was still good. I enjoyed the plot and the new characters introduced and it was amazing to see more characters develop and reach their full potential.

"We've inherited the darkest legacy, but they don't know that we've learned how to thrive in shadows and create our own light."

The Darkest Minds trilogy is one of my all time favorite series, so I was thrilled to see Alexandra bringing some of my all time fave characters back for another round! I was excited to read through Zu's perspective, I loved her in the originals. And it was positively wonderful to step back into the thrilling and cinematic world that I love (and missed) SO much!

Bracken's storytelling is phenomenal. Even when there wasn't much happening, I was never bored. And she has a way of bringing her world and characters to life in a manner that just makes them feel so real. It was amazing to see all of the beloved characters again!
SpoilerAlthough it BROKE MY HEART that they had all split up and gone their separate ways. I just can't handle a world where the team isn't together. I CAN'T.

There was nothing in the world that would ever be powerful enough to keep us from being there to carry each other forward in those moments when our strength gave out.

I also really loved the new characters that were introduced! Roman is totally dreamy, and perfect for Zu (MY BABY ZU IS ALL GROWN UP AND FALLING IN LOVE *sobs*). But PRIYA. Oh my lawd I freaking LOVED her!!! She is definitely a new favorite. At first I didn't care for her and thought she was a bit on the bitchy side, but just like with Vida she grew on me and I soon came to realize that she was one of my favorite characters! I adored her snark and ferociousness so much, she had me cracking up!

So, it's really hard to talk about this book without giving anything away, but let me just say that you are in for a treat! Lots of exciting and unexpected turns and gripping edge-of-your-seat action! The stakes are high and the adrenaline is even higher. I can't wait to see where the story goes next!

The way forward isn't to choose the best of two bad choices, it's finding a way to navigate between them. To create our own path.

If I could call down the lightning and burn out every last trace of darkness for my friends, I would. I would do it in an instant, even if it left me in ashes.
