Absolutely loved it and can't wait to dive in to the next one. Cannot recommend this one on audio enough. It's a great use of a full cast.

Quick and fun sci-fi. I might read the second book if I find the time with everything else I have to read.

Couldn’t hack it. This book had finally snagged me with a good plot twist, but it was too late.
I did like the idea of formatting the book in interviews and journal entries. Some of the entries seemed unnecessary, and the reasoning/characters clunky and ever-changing. It was probably necessary to keep the plot dynamic, but it made me loose interest in the characters. That being said, a few of my friends really did love this series!

Much to my surprise given the compilation of interviews and mission logs writing style I adored this book. The premise of finding a giant alien robot hidden under the earth was so simple but so captivating. Although many of the things that happen work out a little too conveniently as the unknown orchestrator would like them to I still found the global power dynamics and interpersonal conflict that this alien artifact stirred up to be fairly believable. It works so well as a standalone book (besides blatant cliffhanger tacked on to the end) that I wish there were no sequels, but I enjoyed this book enough that I'll definitely end up checking out if they live up to the first.

Well this was a rollercoaster.
This book is written as a series of interviews and journal entries, and I find it makes the story move along so much faster. The twists hit harder as well, and many times I had to put the book down just to let my brain register what happened.
I'd say, though, that at times the descriptions feel too much, to the point towards the end I was skimming through them.
Overall, though, this was a really good story with messy but likable characters, enough twists to not make it feel boring and an ending that made me go buy the second book immediately.
4.5 rounded down to 5 because those descriptions really started to annoy me towards the end.

Quick read, mostly fun in but there's a lot of relationship drama I didn't expect/enjoy. I think I would've enjoyed it more as a podcast honestly
