While this book wasn't perfect for me there were PERFECT parts! This book touched my heart, made me cry and gave me hope. I LOVED Josie and Mayne!!! Had no interest in the other side couple, could have done without them and had more sister interaction. Mayne's love for Josie will always hold a special place in my heart.

The side characters love line taking a lot of chunk for the first half of the book exhausted me. I skipped almost every part of them because I read this book about the main couple. I love Josie, she grew so much and while it’s not hard to love Mayne…. at the same time I’m eager for him to snap out of it and see the real thing faster in front of him

Fueled by the knowledge that notoriety is better than failure, witty, unconventional Josie does what no proper young lady should—she challenges fate. She discards her corset and flirts outrageously. She attends the horse races and allows an arrogant rakehell to whisk her behind the stables for a surreptitious kiss . . . and is caught!

She doesn't want to marry the young hellion—but who's to help? Her chaperone keeps disappearing for mysterious appointments; her guardian is on his wedding trip; and his friend the Earl of Mayne is too busy staring into the eyes of his exquisite French fiancÉe.

Can a marriage forced by stuffy convention and unwilling desire become the match of the season?

I read book one, an eighth of book two, skipped book three altogether and read this book because I absolutely love Josie and Mayne. aside from Tess and Lucius, both are the most promising couple I could conceive. The book was in itself quite entertaining. The only downside I could think of is that I would have preferred Josie and Mayne to have more paper-time. I mean while I adore Griselda, I wish she and Darlington didn't take up so much of the story. They were both annoying and I had to skim through them everytime the book featured them. Consequently, I ended up feeling like what Josie and Mayne shared together wasn't enough to get them to the lovestruck couple we see at the epilogue. Especially on Mayne‘s part. All in all, the book was a good read, if a bit lacking on climactic events.
