Another great fantasy-mystery in an intriguing world. I really enjoyed Stephen's practitioner team, and the deepening of Stephen and Crane's relationship is lovely.

(Not really a fan of the R-rated scenes - the dynamic involved isn't my cup of tea - but they're not massively offputting or anything like that.)

This story was solid and followed in the vein of the previous one. However, I think The Magpie Lord did a better job at creating ambiance. That said, I’m curious to see where the future takes Crane and Stephen. I’m not sure I want to know what way they’re going to try and kill Crane next.
