This book was nice. I used to really like Thumbelina because I was glad to know I wasn't the only one on the short side (nowadays I've sprouted to average height though back when I was reading Thumbelina I was a bit short for my age) and I would recommend it to kids for sure.

I don't like this story, never had and never will, the writing was was good but I have a huge problem with the beauty concept in it, the fact that thumbelina was sad because she thought she wasn't beautiful so that even a bug refused to have her, that the toad and his mother were ugly without even knowing them et j'en passe.

One of my favorite childhood stories.
Mainly because Thumbelina was soo small. I can totally relate.

I've been trying to read classic children's stories this year and I decided to sneak this one in on Leap Day! Thumbelina was one of my favourite animated movies and I watched it MANY times and own a DVD of it now. Andersen's story is just as delightful as the animated movie I remember, brb adding more nostalgic stories to my TBR shelf!
