A great end to the trilogy. The trilogy is among the best sci fi I've read in years (right up there with Murderbot and Becky Chambers).

The political intrigue and tough ethical decisions came into even greater focus in this novel, which made a lot of sense, because the end of any major structures underpinning a civilization involves a lot of politicking and moral quandaries.

This one was more predictable now that I've gotten used to the writing style and how the plots progress in this series, but the name of the series also tells you something about how things are going to go. I was unsatisfied with the resolution between Cardenia and Marce, but maybe just because they made a great couple--not something that would bother every reader.

It finally took until the last book for me to really click with this series, but I finally found it to be more engrossing than the previous two. I do have some quibbles with how he wrapped it up, especially with regards to the side characters on End - he spent a lot of time developing them in the first book and then just ... left them behind as an afterthought. Still, overall a decent light scifi series.

I was worried that this book wasn’t long enough to wrap up the series, but there was no reason to doubt. A great finale to a great series.
