my 1st human X android read & its pretty refreshing!! such a sweet & spฤฑcยฅ novella thats a fun quick read!! aside from being on board the freighter for this 8 month-long trip, they were brought together by a certain mystery they were trying to solve. this gave lela's crush a ch@nc3 to grow. little did they both know, D was actually already being drawn to her too. initially coz he thought that lela's always been kind to him.
i loved how lela always had la$cฤฑvฤฑ0u$ thoughts about D every chance she gets๐๐ she might have been cautious in the beginning about ppl finding her out, but no doubt she loved her android!! its adorable how D would read & watch ๐ฝ to learn more things he wants to try out with lela. to learn that this special android can be ๐ง๐๐๐ง adventurous & break so many rules for the love he didnt know he had for her was juz โฅ๏ธwarming!! the journey of their love story juz completely swept me off my feet๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ

โYou are my preferred person.โ
When I started reading this story about a human woman falling in love with an android, I was not expecting it to make me cry. But HERE WE ARE. This is one of the SWEETEST romances Iโve read this year, and I loved it so much.

Lyonne has done it again. There isn't a single book of hers that doesn't make me fall completely in love with her characters, and D was no exception. With every species Lyonne writes about, we inevitably fall in love. The relationship between Lela and D is beautiful from the beginning. We see both characters grow, especially D, and how those feelings for Lela develop within the relationship. This story has so much romance, smut, mystery, and a futuristic touch that I must add that the way the world-building was described was executed perfectly. It's my first android romance and I was not disappointed. This story completely enchanted me; the romance is sweet and melts your heart with love for them. The epilogue was beautiful and touched my heart. I would read this book again; it has become one of my favorites.

I loved the story. Lyonne Riley is a really good author. She is becoming one of my favorites. I feel like none of her books can disappoint at this point because program for love certainly did not. It was perfectly balanced with pulling at the heartstrings and the spiciness which were spot on and on point. She had me need a cold shower afterwards since I couldnโt for the life of me put this book down. Lela and D relationship was so cute. Lela was hopelessly in love and D didnโt know what it was and him discovering it was literally too cute. They just clicked perfectly together. Programmed for love was wholesome and something I didnโt know I needed. The epilogue was amazing but like the author said it was definitely bittersweet. I loved it none the less. It was like a nice warm sad hug. I just want to know Dโs thoughts afterwards.

Lyonneโs books just keep getting better and better and BETTER. Are you expecting a robot romance? Good, and I hope youโre ready for so much more.
Lela, human, and D, android, both work on the freighter ship carrying raw materials back to base. Sheโs been crushing on D for a while but hasnโt made a move because, well, the rest of the ship might make her the laughingstock for hooking up with a robot. These two randomly cross paths but itโs not until something odd, and slightly ominous, pops up in the cargo hold that they finally start working closely together.
And let the romance begin!!! The way these two fall into each other, their mutual attraction (the citrus and spice scent! IYKYK), itโs such a delicious descent to watch unfold. I love how Lela gives in completely to D and D takes the reins, providing Lela with the extra-special, human-men-wish-they-could SPICE.And he watches videos for research to try out later?? YES PLEASE.
Then we also see the other side - where Lela worries about the relationship, what others might think, whether he actually loves her or if itโs simply his programming. Yes, heโs an android but is there something lying deeper under the glowing blue eyes and circuitry?
I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was the perfect balance of emotionally-charged and amazing spice, all tied together with the cargo hold mystery in the background. And that ending!!Warning: the epilogue had me tearing up.

Genre:Scifi Romance
POV: Single
Ending: HEA
Unique story. I have read quite a bit of scifi romance, but this was my first android romance. It was an interesting concept, though the parts where Lela thought that D was only having sex with her because he was basically taking care of her and making her happy, as is his role as the shipโs android, was a bit off-putting. But she so obviously cared deeply for him that, by the end, I was rooting for this couple so hard. I love how honest they were with each other. And the spicy scenes, whew! The epilogue was not the usual glimpse at the HEA, and I get why the author warned the reader prior to it, but I loved it. Another great work by this author!
I received a copy of the book from the author, but my review is entirely voluntary and honest.
My shelves/tags might be considered spoilers, so look at your own risk!
Tropes: fatal injury, forbidden romance
Kinks: unique ๐, ๐ plug and ๐ play, edging, sex toys
TW: graphic sex, mild violence, bomb detonation, life-threatening injury
Fave quote: โIโm only going to get hurt, arenโt I?โ He nods. โI have believed that likelihood is high for a long time.โ So he knewโprobably from the moment I told him that he was enough for me just as he is. โBut I have found that humans will dive into things anyway, knowing they wonโt work out.โ Thereโs a wistful look on Dโs face, almost like he admires us. โWhile it might hurt later, that doesnโt take away from the joy in the now.โ

"Having a crush on an android? Itโs weird. Gross." - Lela
Or that's how she is "supposed" to feel about Android D-084. . . Lela has the biggest crush on the android and hopes that no one will notice or else she will be made fun of. Plus is D even capable of returning her feelings and what's his anatomy like?
Lela gets a chance to get closer to D only not under the best circumstances. Someone is sabotaging the freighter the two are stationed on along with other crew members hoping to make it to their destination. Lela and D will have to work together to try and catch the culprit. Only as Lela gets closer to D, she realizes her feelings may be reciprocated in a way!
โYou have always been kind to me, and I appreciate that about you.โ - D
Lela hasn't been one for relationships, especially not ones on the freighter she's stationed on. Like many people who know or just understand the common sense behind it, you do not date your coworkers! Dial that up a little because on a freighter you live and work with your associates! No escape! Luckily Lela's type isn't human.
D has caught Lela's eye since the moment she took the job on the ship. Her crush only growing, and we have so many cute moments of her trying not to drool or stare too long at D! She understands D isn't human she read all the manuals on him! But he should also be treated with respect. Unfortunately, there are some on the ship who don't see D as anything more than a tool and bully him a bit. Lela ready to throw them out into space! Touch him and die!
I very much enjoyed reading about D and the mechanics behind how he functioned! D is very interesting, and I appreciate and respect that Lyonne kept with the fact that D doesn't feel or process things the same as a human would. We have a couple of scenes involving human emotions vs android programming. Some that will make you sad and say oh no! D struggling to understand Lela and the proper protocol. Compromises being made and Lela comprehending D's equivalent to her emotions/feelings.
I loved reading and watching how Lela and D's relationship and bond grew. They're romance isn't happy-go-lucky all the time and there are some tense moments the two have to overcome. Lela also being worried about what everyone on the ship would say about her if they knew! Her POV being the only one we get for the read.
This book does have language spread throughout. One of the main arcs in the story revolves around sabotage and Lela mentions what could happen if they don't stop this person. Check the CWs but Lyonne keeps the book rather light. There are of course some scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat and hoping it all ends well!
โHow do you feel so perfect?โ - Lela
โMath,โ he says, with the slightest chuckle. โItโs just math.โ - D
The intimate scenes between Lela and D had me laughing! Lela and D are similar when it comes to wanting to understand the mechanics of each other. Or discovering new things about themselves. Now the spicy scenes were excellent, no doubt there! D is a very polite and sincere lover! His body also comes with some fun features that Lela takes full advantage of. D isn't shy to do some research and utilize that knowledge. . .
This book does have an HEA and I really love what the author did before the epilogue. I cried when I finished the book. This story is so beautifully written, and I enjoyed the characters a lot! The romance, the spice, again the fact that D didn't just suddenly have all the emotions of a human, the mystery, and so much more! I do believe I found another new, favorite author that has me wanting to read every book she has out and the ones she's working on!
Do enjoy this sci-fi romance with a saboteur to catch! And don't forget to give the author some stars!

I knew I would enjoy this before I started reading, but I knew it was SPECIAL just 35% into the story. It's hit Top 3 for me. Lela and D's relationship (and his personality) evolves so much over the course of the story and they made me giggle and kick my feet more times that I can count! They are so perfect for each other, and he would do anything for her!
Also, some of Lela's struggles regarding internal stimulation/orgasm was so well-written, and I felt like this story was written for people like me. D's attention to... detail... is something that many readers will absolutely adore!
I'm so glad this was written!
