This book wasn’t bad by any means, and I really love the previous work the author has done. For me, this book just didn’t hit the mark. The characters and the mystery felt shallow. I was excited for what could be revealed and discovered, and by the end of the book it simply never took off.

Oof, first I love/hated it, then I couldn’t put it down, then I was like “This better have a happy ending Susanna Clarke!” Then I was really taken with how beautiful it was. Excellent writing and all the feels.
